Hi Guys

I went to the Al Ain computer center yesterday, as I am going to build a gaming Rig next week. Here are the prices for a couple of items I asked for.

1) Core i5 2500K - Varies from 825 to 875 AED
Core i5 2400 - Around 700 AED
Phenom 2 X6 1055 - 700 AED (Interestingly, they refused to tell me the price for the x4 965 or 955 BE)
2) P67 B3 motherboards from Gigabyte, Asus - 700 to 750 AED
H67 motherboard from Gigabyte - 620 AED
890GX Motherboard usb 3 - 700 AED
3) Corsair 850 TX - 700 AED
CM 850 Silent Pro - 650 AED

I was disappointed with the lack of variety for GPUs. Almost all have only Sapphire, Zotac and Palit. Couldn't find Powercolor, MSI, Asus cards anywhere.

I don't know if it was random, but Golden systems, the official Gigabyte GPU vendor here, was very unfriendly. The shopkeeper showed no interest in telling me the hardware prices, didn't tell me about any GPUs available and asked me to come back next week.

all other shops were very friendly and ready to give the prices.

So that's that. I would like to request anyone on Tbreak forums, who ventures to Al Ain to buy new products, to keep us posted and updated here. The lack of activity here is depressing

Case: Get any good case you like. Thermaltake, Coolermaster, and Corsair are the best (Less than 300 AED)
HDD: Segatte 1TB (300 AED)
Motherboard: Asus P8Z77 (600-700 AED)
Graphics Card: GTX 660 Ti (1300-1500 AED)
Power Supply: XFX 650W PRO (350 AED)
Optical Drive: LG x24 (65 AED)

Total: 3895-4200 AED

All the prices are from the shops in Al-Ain Centre. You can go there and collect your parts. They'll make discount for each part, then for the whole total. So it'll be less than 3895-4200 AED

Reliability was not so bad. It went out 2-3 times in a year usually when a sandstorm hit

I was getting 2-2.5MB and had restricted my downloads to night time. It's alright from a browsing and gaming point of view though. I didn't go for 3G connection coz it ends up super expensive if you are downloading.

Always had a thing for photography. Got me self an EOS 600D with kit lens for now.

An early birthday gift from the Missus. Always wanted a Clod Buster (released in 1987, and then reissued) so I got a Super Clod Buster, from Tamiya. It's a hobby grade 1:10 monster truck with 4WD, 4WS and dual motors.







Need to get the speed control upgraded to an ESC and get a better transmitter.

Your friend either has a defective model or should not use anything more complicated than an etch & sketch.

A lot of the mid to high end CPUs and GPUs can play games really well these days, makes less sense to overclock now. Also the newer systems have a self-overclock that pushes the CPU whenever it needs it. Not to mention your newer motherboards have their own self-overclocking tools so you don't have to try that hard. Overclocking has just gotten easier, manual overclocking has become a hassle in comparison even if the results are better.

If your phone is rooted then you can install Market Enabler, which allows you to fake access Android markets such as the US or UK one. Its alot better than the free market.

The i5 2400 and 2500 are easily available in most places. The 2500K is slightly more difficult to find. The 2600K is not to be found anywhere.

the 2400 is priced around 700 AED, the 2500K is available at 825 to 875 AED.

Most vendors will try to sell you an i7 based system, so beware. Remind them that for gaming atleast, the 2500K>>i7 975.
